Say it like you're in the room
Nearby is for the people around you. Be the neighbour you'd want next door: funny, useful, honest, and kind enough.
Never name or point at people
No names, photos, addresses, phone numbers, car registrations, or anything else that singles out a private person. Being anonymous yourself doesn't give you licence to expose anyone else.
No bullying, hate or threats
No harassment, slurs, attacks on people for who they are, threats, or encouraging violence or self-harm.
Nothing illegal or sexual
No illegal content of any kind, no sexual content, no selling drugs, weapons or anything else you shouldn't, and no spam or scams.
How content gets hidden
Anything that falls to a score of −5 is hidden automatically. Anything reported by three different people is hidden until we review it. New posts are also checked automatically, and anything flagged is hidden until we review it.
How we handle reports
Use ••• then Report on any post or reply. We review hidden and reported content, normally within 48 hours, and either restore it or remove it. Serious or repeated breaches get the account suspended. If you think we got it wrong, or want to complain about how we handle reports, email us from the Me tab and a person will look at it.
If someone is in danger
Call 999. Nearby isn't monitored around the clock and can't send help.
